Megascans - Metal Research

A little science venture I went on to extract accurate colors for metals. This effort primarily targeted color presets for our software tools, but we also made them available as Megascans assets.

All of these colors reflect pure lab samples (clean, untarnished, and unoxidized), cross-referenced through multiple measurements from multiple sources, external and internal, for the most reliable averages I could possibly get.

A sequel in the form of real-world metal references (dirty, oxidized) was planned as well as larger integrated functionality for my measurements, but was cut short by the Epic layoffs.

This project was done in collaboration with Matt Heimlich and Valtteri Mäkelä who developed the software. The project was initiated and led by me.
